Professor Santoro graduated in 1970 in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Milan and in the same university he specialized in Odontostomatology and Orthognathology.
He started his university career becoming Professor of Prima Fascia in 1987 at the University of Milan to cover initially the Chair of Maxillo-Facial Surgery and later the teaching of Dentistry Clinic. From 1996 to 2013 he was Director of the Dental Clinic at the University of Milan.
In 2004 he founded the School of Specialization in Dental Surgery and covered the role of Director until 2010.
From an academic point of view, he has held the following positions: Director of the Institute of Dental Clinics, Director of the Department of Surgical, Rehabilitative and Diagnostic Sciences, President of the Degree Course in Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics.
Since 2016, he is Medical Director of the Dentistry Unit of the IRCSS Policlinico San Donato.
In 2017 he was awarded the title of Emeritus Professor at the University of Milan.
He is the author of over 200 scientific publications in national and international journals and three books: “Special Dentistry Surgery”, “Orthodontic and surgical treatment of dysgnatia” and “Advanced Osteo-integration” all three in collaboration with his student Prof. Carlo Maiorana.
From a clinical-professional point of view, he has always been focused on rehabilitation therapies, solving the most complicated cases thanks to his expertise in oral and maxillofacial surgery, implantology, periodontics, prosthesis and orthodontics.
Currently, from a clinical point of view, it is unanimously considered to be one of the leading experts in simple and complex implant-prosthetic restorations.
He is enrolled in the Register of Technical Consultants of the Court of Milan for the specialities of Dentistry and Maxillofacial Surgery.
