in the Santoro dental practice radiological equipment has been always upgraded to the best possible standards, in the belief that these devices are a very important mean of helping the clinician in the diagnostic and therapeutic phases. The practice has three radiographic apparatus for performing endo-oral plates and an orthopantomograph-teleradiography.
Each operating zone has its own endoral device that perform high definition radiographs useful in the diagnosis phase for conservative, endodontic and periodontal purposes. The orthopantomograph is used to obtain an overview of the maxillary bones, temporal-mandibular joints, paranasal sinuses, jawbone body and full teeth.
The radiographic telephotographer allows the execution of x-ray in lateral or frontal projection on which cephalometric traces can be made, which allow to establish whether the upper maxillary and the jaw are in a correct spatial relationship with the skull base and between them with great importance from the diagnostic point of view in orthodontics.
Since these are devices with minimal invasiveness, as they emit rays, it is very important that the high definition required for clinical use is accompanied by very low radiation emission. For a long time, the Santoro dental practice has been using every means to reduce the radiogenic dose needed by using reinforcement screens. Since 2010, all equipment has been included in a computer circuit, which further reduces the amount of radiation needed and transforms it into an event that has little impact on the patient’s health.
Finally, if more sophisticated equipment such as TAC Cone Beam surveys, which are used mainly in surgery and implantology, is needed, the study uses the expertise of a Radiological Centre, which is particularly well equipped with the most up-to-date equipment in order to provide patients with the best help in clinical operation.
